Recently, at the State Council’s regular policy briefing held by the State Council, Du Chaoxin, head of the Free Trade Zone and Special Regional Development Department of the General Administration of Customs, said that the customs actively consolidated and deepened the collaborative cooperation with relevant departments of exporting countries in phytosanitation, jointly developed a data mutual recognition system, and required exporting countries to send temperature probe correction and other information to China in the system as agreed when packing fruits. Customs officers conduct verification through the online system, thereby reducing on-site box extraction and greatly saving on-site inspection time.

Reporter: How to bring imported fruits to people’s dining tables as soon as possible?

Du Chaoxin replied: Food safety issues have always been a high concern for everyone. In recent years, the demand for imported fresh fruits such as cherries, blueberries, avocados has continued to grow.

According to the requirements of the bilateral protocol signed by China and relevant countries, imported fruits in some production areas need to be treated coldly during transportation. Since the cold treatment time is more than 15 days, enterprises generally use the cold treatment method during container transportation to turn the series into parallel connection to save processing time. After the fruit arrives at the port, the customs officer needs to dig the box to evaluate the effect of the container's cold treatment, which will take a long time.

In order to ensure that imported fruits that travel across the ocean can maintain a delicious flavor while ensuring safety and be served on the people's dining table as soon as possible, the customs actively consolidate and deepen the collaborative cooperation with relevant departments of exporting countries in phytosanitation, jointly develop a data mutual recognition system, and require exporting countries to send temperature probe correction and other information through the system as agreed when packing fruits. Customs officers conduct verification through the online system, thereby reducing on-site box extraction, greatly saving on-site inspection time, significantly improving customs clearance efficiency, reducing corporate customs clearance costs, and further promoting economic and trade exchanges between the two sides.

The simplification of domestic quarantine measures has achieved good results in the pilot project of the Shanghai Free Trade Pilot Zone, and the General Administration of Customs has promoted and implemented it nationwide. In future work, the customs will continue to explore and open up new ways to open up new sources of customs supervision data, and through data sharing and co-governance, continuously improve trade security and facilitation levels, help improve the port customs clearance efficiency of imported fruits and other mass consumer goods, and better meet the growing needs of a better life for the people of our country.
