Sow in spring and harvest in autumn.

The dining table has no borders, and you can taste everything at one table

Today, Sir, I will take advantage of the Harvest Festival

Let’s take a look at imported food in one article:

From entry barriers to Chinese labels

From general trade to cross-border e-commerce

Explain everything clearly!

1

Imported ingredients on the table

The autumn wind blows, the autumn fat sticks to the body, and the stomach is the happiest. The following common ingredients all have strict 'entry thresholds' for import!

01Meat: High import threshold

2

Importing meat is not just a matter of finding a foreign farm. Several conditions must be met at the same time:

• Product access : The General Administration of Customs implements access management for imported meat. Only meat that has been risk assessed and included in the access list is allowed to be imported.

• Overseas production companies must register in China : Meat produced by companies that are not on the registration list of the General Administration of Customs is not allowed to enter.

• Quarantine approval required : An 'Entry Animal and Plant Quarantine Permit' must be obtained before importing.

Sir Guan reminds: When buying imported beef and mutton, you can ask the merchant to provide the 'inbound cargo inspection and quarantine certificate' of the meat. Do not touch 'parallel imported meat' of unknown origin.

02 Honey: Access Assessment + Enterprise Registration

3

Imported honey is not available from just any country:

• Product access : Only honey from countries (regions) that have passed the risk assessment of the General Administration of Customs and are allowed to be imported can enter.

• Registration of overseas production companies in China : Like meat, overseas production companies of honey must also register.

• Additives : No other substances can be added to imported honey. 'Honey' mixed with syrup is illegal.

03 Rice: Multiple measures to ensure food security

4

• Product access : The General Administration of Customs implements access management for imported rice. Only rice that has been risk assessed and included in the access list is allowed to be imported.

• Overseas production companies must register in China : Rice production and processing companies should be on the registration list of the General Administration of Customs.

• GMO testing : Imported rice must be tested for GMO, and unapproved GMO rice is not allowed to enter.

Sir Guan reminds: Rice packaging should have clear Chinese words 'This product is exported to the People's Republic of China' and comply with the requirements of other imported rice inspection and quarantine announcements, such as indicating the rice variety, processing plant, exporter, etc.

Doorways in Chinese tags

After talking about the 'temper' of ingredients, we have to talk about the 'reassurance' of Chinese labels. It translates complex professional information into vernacular, allowing us to shop clearly and eat with peace of mind.

Q: What exactly do I need to write on a Chinese label?

A: According to Article 97 of the Food Safety Law and the General Principles of National Food Safety Standards for Prepackaged Food Labeling (GB 7718-2011) , imported prepackaged foods should have Chinese labels, which generally include:

Food name

Ingredients list

Net content and specifications

Production date and shelf life

storage conditions

Country (region) of origin

Name, address and contact details of agent, importer or distributor

nutrition label

Sir Guan knocked on the blackboard! ! !

The Chinese labels of imported health foods and special dietary foods must be printed directly on the minimum sales package and must not be affixed.

Imported food without Chinese labels

Some friends are going to panic when they see this. Why are there still imported foods without labels? Don’t worry, it’s not necessarily a fake! It may just not take the 'usual path'~

Sir Guan, many of the imported snacks I bought on cross-border platforms don’t have Chinese labels. What’s going on?

There is no Chinese label, probably because it takes another 'channel' - cross-border e-commerce retail import

According to the 'Notice on Improving the Supervision of Cross-Border E-Commerce Retail Imports' jointly issued by six departments (Shangcaifa [2018] No. 486) , cross-border e-commerce retail imported goods are regulated as imported items for personal use. The relevant products are purchased directly from overseas and may not have Chinese labels.

7

That is to say, the imported goods you buy through cross-border platforms through 'online shopping bonded import' or 'direct purchase import' are personal items. The relevant goods are purchased directly from abroad and may not have Chinese labels.

but! Pay attention to this 'but'——

Cross-border e-commerce companies should fulfill their obligations to remind and inform consumers, and work with cross-border e-commerce platforms to provide consumers with risk notifications on product ordering webpages or other conspicuous locations . Consumers can only place orders after confirming their consent.

The notice should contain at least the following content:

(1) The relevant products comply with the relevant quality, safety, sanitation, environmental protection, labeling and other standards or technical specifications of the country of origin, but may be different from our country's standards. Consumers bear the relevant risks at their own risk.

(2) The relevant products are purchased directly from overseas and may not have Chinese labels. Consumers can check the Chinese electronic labels of the products through the website.

(3) The goods purchased by consumers are for personal use only and may not be resold.

Harvest Festival, celebrating the harvest

Good domestic ingredients have given us confidence

Imported delicacies enrich our taste

What Sir Guan did was to build a bridge in the middle

Let the safe ones come in and let the uneasy ones stop them

All four seasons, cold and summer

I just want to say something to everyone: You can eat this meal with confidence
